Multiple Sclerosis and Chiropractic Therapy

My regular Chiropractor, Dr. Hawkins was out of town! My back and sides felt like electrical shocks and stabs with every movement that I made! The pain was so intense that my knees buckled and I dropped to the floor in tears every time I tried to walk! I was experiencing the pain that many people with MS feel every day!

This pain was possibly due to over-stimulating my body with the hand-held massager that I had. Thankfully Dr. Fuller from Alpine Chiropractic in Wasilla Alaska, was able to get me for an appointment quickly.

Dr. Fuller’s website explains, “Chiropractic is the Science, Art and Philosophy that concerns itself with the restoration of good health by restoring and maintaining a properly functioning nervous system, without the use of drugs or surgery.

Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that your body is a self-regulating, self-healing organism. These important functions are controlled by the brain, spinal cord, and all the nerves of the body. The skull protects the delicate tissues of the brain. The moving bones of the spine protect the vulnerable communication pathways of the spinal cord and nerve roots. If the nervous system is impaired, it can cause malfunction of the tissues and organs throughout the body. Doctors of Chiropractic call this the Vertebral Subluxation Complex. The Chiropractic adjustment has been proven to increase motion, increase circulation, reduce swelling and pain, and remove nervous irritation. Once this nervous irritation is removed, your body is able to do what it is designed to do – heal itself.”

I have always believed that our bodies are designed to heal themselves. Unfortunately my body is not getting over the MS, but with Dr. Fuller’s help I’m back to living pain-free! I wasn’t able to do any exercises except ride my stationary bike for days! After today’s visit my body feels good enough to do push-ups and other physical therapy!

  1. So that’s what Chiropractic Therapy is for. It’s great that chiropractic therapy helps relieve symptoms of MS.

    • Hey Mary~
I am so grateful that my chiropractic visits have helped some with my aching back but I don’t want to give you the idea that the Chiropractic Therapy somehow fixed the MS! I’m realizing that the ‘spasticity’, the MS symptom of all of my muscles constricting seems to be causing the aches in my neck and back. I’m seeing the benefits of the chiro and I’ll keep visiting him whenever I’m feeling pain in my back!

  2. Last week, I go to a Chiro because I have back pains. I really believed on them. After that, I was able to go back to work since I worked in front of the computer just sitting about 14 hours. Thanks to them.

    • Tina~
Thank you for sharing! It’s fun to hear other people’s success stories! Man you have quite the work day, 14 hours is a long time in front of the computer!

  3. I’ve also back pain. I’ve also heard much more about Chiro. I also want go to there. Some good ideas here. Thanks, I can only hope mine turns out as good as this one.

  4. The main purpose of chiropractic therapy is save normal function to joints and their supporting structure.
