I’m happy to say that I’ve now re-lost 2 of the 4 lbs I put back on a couple of weeks ago. So it’s now about 45 lbs I’ve lost in the last 6 months. WhooHoooooo!!! The difference in my energy is awesome and I’m actually starting to regain some of the abilities that I’ve lost over the years with the MS.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that the weight I’ve lost was causing the MS symptoms, just that carrying all this extra weight around with me has been compromising my body’s ability to manage day-to-day. Of course while I was still carrying it, I had no idea how much less severe some of my MS symptoms would be if I lost some weight. But I do now… and you know what they say… “you can’t “unlearn” it once you’ve learn’t it”!
I finally decided to borrow a walker and yesterday was the first time I used it to walk up the road. Was expecting to be really uncomfortable out on the street with it, to be honest. But I didn’t! It was fine, liberating even! Using the walker gives me a stronger sense of safety than the cane does. And of course I can sit down on the walker whenever I feel tired. Bonus!
I’m starting to notice now that my right knee isn’t giving out as much as it did a couple of weeks ago. I’m guessing that the muscles in my leg that are getting stronger with the walking are now compensating for the MS weakness that I generally have. Man, is that awesome!
I asked Dawn today if there’s something I can take to help cleanse my system now that I’m eating healthy and have quit smoking. She suggested I think about picking up a NutriBullet to introduce green drinks to my daily intake. Since I already do protein shakes, trying green drinks sounds like the next evolution so I will go ahead and buy it.
